Colorado Fourteeners
I have, among other ambitious goals, the desire to summit all 53 Colorado peaks that are above 14,000 feet in elevation. These are lovingly called “Fourteeners” and range from afternoon drives to the summit (Pike’s Peak) to class 5, 20-mile hikes in the Maroon Belles. I started working on this list when I was, well, 6 years old and really into pretend play. Then my Dad took me on my first big hike at 15. And in the 10 years in between then and now my priorities shifted a lot and I didn’t attempt any big peaks. I’ve known for a while that this is a valuable pursuit to me and I intend to take it seriously. It’ll take a lot of effort to complete this list – that people die in summit attempts and even more, people get hurt. So…Here is my progress.
